Supporting Anthem Charities
We give 10 percent of card sale proceeds to local charities and families in need. Following are current recipients.
Audrey Thoenen
Fifteen-year-old Audrey suffers from Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS). This is a very painful, debilitating, rare disease. Individuals with EDS have a defect in their connective tissue. The connective tissue in a normal person provides support to many body parts including the skin, ligaments and muscles. In a person with EDS, the collagen in their body is faulty, which results in extreme pain, unstable joints, and fragile skin.
Funds are being raised to help with medical bills and to enable Audrey’s family to build a bedroom for her on the ground floor of their two-story home. Learn about EDS.

Chris Carson Family and Believers of Hope Foundation
Chris Carson, who has a wife and young daughter, was seriously injured in a truck rollover on his way to work last October. His truck flipped multiple times, and he was ejected from the back window, landing nearly 30 feet from his vehicle. The accident left Chris with burst fracture of cervical discs 5 and 6 and a T11 compression fracture.
Despite these spinal cord injuries and the initial assessment that he would never again have feeling or movement from the neck down, Chris’ fighting and courageous spirit is paying off. Through generous donations, Chris has been able to start rehabilitation at The Neuro Institute in Tempe. With the aid of therapists, on April 16 Chris stood for the first time in six months. Because this specialized therapy is not covered by their insurance, donations are urgently needed for Chris to continue receiving treatment. Learn more about Chris and his family.

Since the tragic accident that Christopher endured, I knew in my heart that I needed to do something more to help. Through the struggles I faced, I realized that there needed to be a place, for the women of these injured victims, to go for healing. I have worked day and night on preparing and researching and I started a non-profit foundation partnering with The Next Step Foundation, called Believers of HOPE Foundation. I am so excited to start helping these families and to give them HOPE to move forward!

Josh Coppoth
Josh had emergency surgery to remove a brain tumor last year, and since then has bravely faced a grueling regimen of radiation and chemotherapy. He received his last round of chemotherapy May 15. Josh will be seen by his oncology team every three months for the next year for MRIs and blood work, and every six months the following year in order to keep a close watch on him.
Josh has managed to maintain straight As in school even though he has been homebound through most of this year. He has been named the recipient of the Anderson Security Citizenship Award for 2008 because of his ability to share his bravery with a soldier in Iraq. Josh has decided he wants to be a doctor when he grows up so that he can repay in someway those that have been there for him.
